Rivers Casino Des Plaines celebrated a topping off ceremony for the property’s new expansion on 30 August.

The $87m, 78,000 sq ft expansion will include a poker room, an events ballroom and a new restaurant. 725 additional gaming positions will bring the casino’s total to 2,000, the maximum allowed under Illinois law.

“We are investing in the property to provide our guests more dining amenities, more entertainment, more gaming options, and what will be the Midwest’s best poker room,” said Corey Wise, SVP and general manager of Rivers Casino.

The expansion will open in two phases. The first, due to open in the winter, will see the addition of new restaurant and an expanded gaming floor.

The second phase, expected to open in spring 2022, will feature a 22-table poker room, a 10,000 sq ft ballroom for private events and live entertainment, and an additional gaming area.
