A new casino resort project has begun construction in Grenada. The development by Heng Sheng Group, currently known as the Grenada National Resort Project, will include a 500-room, five-star hotel, casino, amusement park, an international golf course, and a turtle museum.

Cathyann Alexander-Pierre, senior specialist for the Grenada Investment Development Corporation said that to date, more than $70m have been invested in the acquisition of the land for the development.

Preliminary work included feasibility studies, site preparation and ongoing construction she added.

“Grenada offers fantastic opportunities for the development of luxury products at some of the most picturesque sites around the island,” said Alexander- Pierre. “Grenada is an unspoilt, under-the-radar destination that creates the feeling of exclusivity for luxury developers. They want to give their clients something of the highest quality, which is authentic and not easily duplicated.”

Construction of the resort is expected to create 500 jobs, while the resort will generate an estimated 800 jobs once its operational.

Alexander-Pierre added that she does not expect the pandemic to influence the timeline for the development “Grenada has managed the pandemic well by implementing internationally recognised health and safety protocols to safeguard residents, visitors and investors,” she stated.
