Avani Windhoek completes second development phase

The Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino, one of the premier gaming locations in Namibia has completed the second phase of its N$24m ($1.75m).

The redevelopment largely concerns upgrades to the property’s conference centre and amenities as owners seek to establish a high quality amenities offering to match that of the gaming facilities.

“Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino is a Windhoek landmark and the current upgrade of more than N$24m ($1.75m) will see it regain its status as one of the leading hotels in the city. The upgrade forms part of a larger revamp of the entire Gustaf Voigts Shopping Centre, amounting to a total of more than N$140m ($10.2m),” said Rudie Putter, general manager of Avani Windhoek Hotel and Casino, during the launch.

Situated in the nation’s capital city at a time when tourism to Namibia is growing year on year owner of the property, Minor International designed the three-phase development project as to make the most of a burgeoning business travel market.

The third and final phase of the project will see a wholesale reconstruction of all facilities at the rooftop level and feature a grand ballroom, and a brand new restaurant situated on the rooftop alongside a bar and all high-end swimming facilities.

The entire refurbishment project is slated to be completed towards the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019, according to Putter.
